Why Thimble?

We know people learn best from repetition. That’s why we’ve created a roadmap of online courses that include project kits, tools, and equipment. Along with the physical hardware, we include both written and video instructions so you can follow along in the way that best fits your learning style.

As you progress through the projects with us, you’ll go beyond just following tutorials to gain a true understanding of HOW electronics, engineering, and coding work and WHY. No previous experience needed!

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get started once I receive my first project?

To start building, all you need is Internet access and your computer or mobile device! Then visit our learning platform at learning.thimble.io to create an account and follow along with our guided step-by-step instructions and video tutorials.

What tools are required to complete the projects?

No extra tools are required! All parts come included with each kit. To get started, all you need is your computer and internet access. From time to time, you may need a few household items to aid you in the assembly, such as a screwdriver, tape, or cardboard. As you progress from course to course, the learning outcomes and skill level become more difficult. We also sell a comprehensive Deluxe Toolkit on our Parts Store that will help anyone become an electronics master.

What if I have problems with the assembly or coding of my project?

Post on our community forum for 24/7 troubleshooting assistance from our helpful community! If you still have questions, contact us anytime at support@thimble.io.

What ages and experience levels are these projects for?

Thimble kits are recommended for children ages 8+ with parental supervision, ages 10+ independently, and even adults! We start off assuming you know nothing about engineering, programming, and electronics. As you progress from project to project with us throughout the months, you will eventually build up to college level engineering and computer science skills!
